Story Ahead is a free app that helps parents and educators make calm, personalised stories that prepare children for everyday situations. We designed it so that no personal information ever leaves your device.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party code. We do not run any servers and cannot see anything you enter.
What the app stores on your device
- Stories you create or edit, and photos you add to them
- Children you choose to save (name, age, sensory worries)
- Your reading settings (text size, reading speed)
This information is stored only inside the app on your device. It is encrypted using iOS Data Protection, which keeps it locked while your device is locked; it is excluded from iCloud and computer backups, and it is never synced. You can delete individual items, or everything, from Saved stories. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Camera and photos
The app uses the camera or your photo library only when you choose to add a photo to a story page. Photos are resized and their metadata, including location, is removed before they are stored in the app. The app cannot see any other photos.
Apple Intelligence
On supported devices, the app may use Apple's on-device language model to match the words you type to a story. This runs entirely on your device; your words are not sent to Apple or to us.
Reading aloud
Listen uses the voices built into your device. Speech is produced on your device.
Sharing and printing
Nothing is shared unless you tap Share or Print. When you share a story (for example, to WhatsApp) or print it, the receiving app or printer handles it under its own terms. PDF files made for sharing are temporary and are removed the next time the app opens.
Network use
The app makes no network connections.
Children
The app is intended for use by parents, caregivers and educators. It does not collect information from anyone, including children.

Apple Intelligence
